Resident of the Month

John Pyles was selected as our June Resident of the Month! John has been a resident at Maysville Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility since April 2018. He graduated from Mayslick High School in 1947. He has received three Honorable Discharge Certificates from the Navy. John is the son of Ruth and Eugene Pyles. He was married to his wife Irene Pyles for fifty-nine years until Mrs. Pyles passed away in 2008. He has two sons, Michael and John Pyles Jr. Michael is fifty-nine and John Jr. passed away at the young age of fifteen.

Mr. Pyles worked at Emerson Electric for twenty-five years as a Mechanist Engineering Specialist and was in the Navy for twenty years. There, he obtained a high ranking of E-6 (1st class yeoman)! He is very proud of the years he spent in the Navy (four years-Pentagon, six years- London, England, six years- two different stations, two years- Muary servay ship on the coast of Bancock, Thiland and two years-London, England).

He enjoys collecting old photographs from the various places he has traveled. He is a member of the Dekalb Lodge and is also the secretary, life member of VFW, member of Men’s Club, and member of the Church of the Nativity, Kentucky Colonel. John participates weekly in bingo, card games, patio visits and he frequently visits and socializes with everyone in the facility. He stated, “All the resident’s and staff treat me great and I enjoy socializing with them, it makes me really happy!”
